Toute Une Vie

Toute une vie est un film fran├žais-italien r├ęalis├ę par Claude Lelouch, sorti en 1974. They rent office space in the same building where Sarah's company is headquartered, Sarah and Simon obliviously walking past each other in one moment. Director Claude Lelouch, who is still making movies today, is considered one of the geniuses of French cinema, and this film is certainly impressive. It was just as wonderful as the first time with a big caveat. Whether I agree with people like Lelouch or Godard I find immaterial.

Sarah is still swept up in misplaced love and mostly ridicules her father's counsel. They are drawn to each other, exchange photos of their deceased parents, and are next seen conceiving a child with the film switching to color. He receives a telegram announcing the birth of his son, but is killed by enemy fire quickly after. Sarah, was born in luxury. I cannot believe that no one has mentioned the stroke of brilliance that makes this film an ingenious gem. Please note that the futuristic section near the end is just Andr├ę Dussollier describing the next movie he intends to make.

Notes: Originally released as a motion picture in 1974. In scenes crosscut with Sarah's youth, the character of Simon Duroc is introduced, shoplifting a Gilbert B├ęcaud record. It starts off in the early 1900s and we meet Sarah's grandmother and mother. At a party thrown by Sarah and Carla, this porno film is screened, but Sarah declines to watch it. The film is poorly reviewed and forces the team to go back to making commercials. . A multitude of stories are told in brief snippets before the focus settles on one family - a French Jewish mogul and his daughter Marthe Keller. At the same point in time, Sarah, earlier seen being cavalierly dumped by B├ęcaud when she tries to meet him backstage at a concert, attempts suicide, but survives in hospital. Just because some may disagree with the philosophy of Descartes or Hume doesn't mean they are ignorant. On the same day as her death, the takes place, and a brief montage of the succeeding Russian leaders is shown. Simon initially attempts to pitch another feature film, this time an dystopian science fiction story about man's future. There are two more near-meets between Simon and Sarah during this time, once at the restaurant as they both dine there unaware of each other, and later at the Deauville beach, where Sarah has gone to reassess her priorities and Simon tries to rethink the ending to his film.

As a result of the material's focus, I didn't particularly enjoy the film; however, I respected its vision and execution.

Description: 1 videodisc 143 min. The story builds toward a rather predictable climax, but with some unexpected stops along the way, including a bizarre trip to 1990. A parallel story is interspersed into the action as well, telling the story of a young criminal, Simon Andr├ę Dussollier , who later discovers photography and filmmaking. Lelouch is injecting his beliefs on us too strongly, too forecefully. Or is Freud stupid because you find Carl Rogers more stimulating? Just kidding One of the film's flaws is it goes on too long. Cast: Marthe Keller, Andre╠ü Dussollier, Charles Denner, Carla Gravina, Charles Ge╠ürard, Gilbert Be╠ücaud.

After charming her into taking a turn operating the crank on his camera, she is next seen bearing his child while he is enlisted in the French army, documenting soldiers in a trench. A movie with lots of ideas and a definitive viewpoint. I just didn't enjoy the plot and themes explored. At the tail end of the '60's, Sarah has taken to writing about herself and her dissatisfied upbringing, remarking on her father's indulgence as a means of keeping her mother's memory alive. He engineers an escape via a garbage truck, but after he steals a car, he gets into a car wreck and is sent back to jail.

Credits: Director of photography, Jean Collomb ; art director, Franc├î┬žois de Lamothe ; editor, Georges Klotz ; music, Francis Lai. Desperate to try making her move on from her affair with B├ęcaud, David takes Sarah on a long, around-the-world trip, where they talk at length about relationships, religion, class issues, and other concepts. ┬╗ I loved this film when it first appeared in 1974 and I had waited a long time to see it again. You don't have to agree with a film or book 100% to respect what it has to say. Simultaneously, Simon is also heading for New York as well, feeling he needs a change of scenery to get ideas for his next film. Later that night, she loses her virginity to him. Not to imply he's not now.

Claude Lelouch, for those who are unfamiliar was quite the craftsman. His defense attorney reveals in court that Simon has been raised in an orphanage, been to reform school, and deserted the Army during France's war with Algeria, attempting to draw sympathy for him. However, she cheats on him with the leading actor in the project, and Simon's bitterness creeps into the finished film, which ends with her being choked by the actor. Have you ever wondered if you and your spouse passed each other before you met? Should please those with an open mind. Her lover accompanies her to the airport. Many autobiographical elements come into play, especially in the arc of the Simon Duroc character. Sarah and Simon unconsciously develop identical traits, such as wanting three sugars in their coffee, that indicate they may be destined to be a couple.
